How to use the release jig is easy enough. Mount the release jig on the tip of the line, pierce the big hook inside the fish’s mouth and just drop the fish in the water. Most people worry “if the fish swam away in high sprit and survived”? But if you see the fish that you have released start flapping and looking restive or its velocity shows down, it is a sign of recovery from the shock of just being caught. At this moment, engage the reel clutch and gently raise the rod. It should release the hook to set the fish free.

What’s type of fish can we release?

There is great potential for various species. One of the joys of off shore jigging is encountering unexpected fish. But in reality, it is often the case you want to let the fish go because you caught an unintended prey or it was too small or too large to take home. On such occasions, if the fish is well enough to go back to the water you release the hook, and it shouldn’t be a problem. But in the case of many of the deep-sea fish or rockfish, they become unable to withstand sudden pressure changes. The eyeballs and tripe pop out, most of them are not be able to go back to their natural water depth if you release them. However, did you know that among the deep-sea fish they keep in aquariums, there are fish that are caught with the eyeballs and the tripe popped out as well? These fish were put in a high pressure water tank to help them adjust themselves to a newer condition, taking a few weeks of training. If you can use this system at the time of catching, you can increase the survival rate dramatically.
